The web’s Top 10 tips for growing your Facebook Page fan base

by Peter Fletcher on November 12, 2009

Facebook become a fan buttonI’ve scoured the Internet for the top 10 tips to help grow your Facebook Page fan base. Here they are in no particular order.

  1. “Call your Fan Page a Fan Club and include an invitation to join your Club on your email signature file.” – Mari Smith
  2. “The best way to grow your fan base on Facebook is to interact with them often and regularly, and to keep your Facebook page fresh!” – Social Surrogates
  3. “Make sure you use a Fan Box to publicize to your customers your presence on Facebook. Once you do that, watch for your numbers of fans to increase.” – Brand5 Blog
  4. Create a Facebook Event. “Events provide an amazing opportunity for brands to reach out to their fan base.” – Nick O’Neill
  5. “The fan page for popular potato chip brand Pringles stands out mostly for its great use of video. While Pringles has created an inviting laid back tone, and managed to engage fan via reviews, discussions, and original interactive games, the most notable aspect of the page is definitely their use of video.” – Callan Green
  6. “Set your wall to include posts from you AND your fans.” – Melissa Ward
  7. Advertise your fan Page using the Facebook advertising platform – Lisa Barone and Mari Smith
  8. “Don’t let knew users land on the wall…the wall can be extremely valuable for letting users talk to you and your brand but such unfiltered waters are the last place you should force a new user to navigate through. Provide your users with a safe entrance to the muddy waters we call “social media”… – Nick O’Neill
  9. “Participate in the conversation. Respond to your fans comments, hit the Like button often, celebrate achievements.” – Peter Fletcher
  10. “Building a large following requires a network of other platforms, working in conjunction to drive visitors to your fan page.” – Samir Balwani

Fantastic article Peter thanks. With your number 9. I find that as an administrator of a page if I click like on something i've posted it shows me as the individual that likes it not the business. Is this different when someone else makes the post?

    Cheers
    Rob
  • I've experimented with that Rob. As best as I can tell the Like button shows as being clicked by an individual regardless of who created the post. When an admin adds a comment on a Page it always shows as the Page name.
