Twitter is the number one tool for social media marketers according to a report recently released by social media evangelist Michael A. Stelzner. His findings, arising out of a study of the practices of nearly 900 social media marketers, show that social media marketing is a rapidly emerging means of engaging with customers. Some of his other discoveries include:
- Most marketers are new to social media – 72% have been using social media for “a few months or less”.
- In order of ranking Twitter, blogs, LinkedIn and Facebook were the top four platforms used for social media marketing.
- Marketers aged between 30-39 were most likely to use social media marketing.
- The primary benefit of social media marketing was to gain “the all important eyeball”.
- A majority of new adopters thought social media failed to help close new business; but this changed dramatically for experienced marketers.
