Social media marketing in less than a minute

by Peter Fletcher on January 19, 2009

Real estate is a tough, fast-paced business that demands a lot of an agent’s time. Here are 11 social media marketing tasks that can be done in less than a minute. Now there’s a reason to be happy to be hold with a mortgage broker or conveyancer.

  1. Change your Facebook status. 13 seconds.
  2. Comment on a friend’s wall. Make sure it’s one of your clients. 32 seconds.
  3. Share a real estate related link on your Facebook page (not your profile). Make a comment about why it’s important. 49 seconds.
  4. Send an invite to a client to join your LinkedIn network. 57 seconds.
  5. Change your Facebook profile pic. 39 seconds.
  6. Send an @reply tweet on Twitter. 17 seconds.
  7. Add a link to your profile on your company website. 59 seconds.
  8. Add your latest property listing to Delicious. 46 seconds.
  9. Make a small change the ad text for your oldest property listing. 46 seconds.
  10. Start a blog post with just a heading and one or two bullet points. Save it as a draft for editing later. 58 seconds.
  11. Get ready to come off hold. First question? Ask them if they would like to join your network on LinkedIn or Facebook.

Social media marketing doesn’t need to be all consuming. So get cracking and start connecting. Even when you’re on hold.

great read- what is #8 - adding listing to delicious? I tried to google it but no luck.
  • Hi Scott, delicious is del.icio.us or www.delicious.com
  • All great, practical advice Peter. You've got me tweeting away, and I enjoy reading yours. I've started some ads on Facebook after attending a NewWave Marketing seminar Josh Williams gave. Amazed at the page views, and how cost effective FB ads are. Seems better than Googel adwords as you can select age, sex, where people live (which is in their FB profile.... clever). Seems to be easy to use, update and manage (I think) - love to hear your ideas on FB ads - are they as targetted, effective as the theory suggests?
